- Esther I. Behnke, age 94 of Beverly Health Care, Chilton formerly of Brillion, died on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000 at Calumet Medical Center, Chilton.
She was born June 23, 1905 in Brillion, daughter of the late Albert and Bertha (Mahnke) Betlke. On May 20, 1925, she married Herman C. Behnke in Menominee, Mich. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Brillion, American Legion Auxiliary, and was a Gold Star Mother, and the Brillion Sr. Citizens.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Delmar Zarnoth, Reedsville, Carol Beyer. Brillion, Karen and Leon Boettcher, Brillion, Marvyn Boettcher, Brillion, and a son and two daughters-in-law-, James and Florence Behnke, Brillion, Barbara Behnke, Appleton. Twenty-five grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren. Two sisters and one brother-in-law, Margaret and Vilas White, Two Rivers, Josephine Hoffrnan, Manitowoc, two sisters-in-law; Viola Beilke, New Holstein, Laurel Nett, Darboy, a very special friend Liese Wolf, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 18, 1970, two sons, Orville and Orlando, daughter, Ellen Boettcher, two sons-in-law, Richard Doughty and Lloyd Beyer, a daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Elton stichert, three grandsons, a great-granddaughter, and six brothers.
Funeral services were held Sat. Feb. 5 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion with Rev. Ross Henzi as officiant. Burial will be in the Brillion Community Cemetery
The Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion assisted the family with arrangement.
