Notes - John Verkuilen Sr., died at his home in this village (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) on Saturday Nov. 7, 1903, aged 61 years, 10 months and 12 days. He was born in Holland, and came to this country with his parents at the tender age of six years, the family settling in the wilds of Brown County, Wis., not far distant from the now flourishing city of Kaukauna. Here he resided for fifty years on a farm, removing to this place about five years ago. Besides his wife he leaves nine children, John Jr. and Mrs. F. Smith of the town of Worden, Frank of Sheboygan, Mrs. F. Dionne of Pond, Wis., Martin of Eland Junction, Albert of the town of Reseburg, and Mrs. Geo. Ebben, Miss Bardeen and Miss Mary of this village, and also one sister, Mrs. D. Rowan of Sheboygan, all of whom were present at the funeral.
The funeral occurred from St. Bernard's Church on Tuesday morning and was largely attended, Father Dorrenbach officiating, the interment taking place at the Catholic Cemetery.
