- Ambrose A. Denzel, age 94, of Hilbert, died on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah. He was born May 15, 1922, son of the late Frank & Mary (Schreiner) Denzel. Ambrose married Irene L. Voight on November 8, 1945 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Chilton; she preceded him in death on October 1, 1997.
Ambrose farmed his entire career on the family homestead in the Town of Rantoul. During this time, he also drove truck for various local businesses and in his retirement years, he drove school bus.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert and took great pleasure in his horses and watching the Green Bay Packers. One of his favorite accomplishments in life was driving a 6 horse team in the Great Circus Parade in Milwaukee.
Ambrose was a strong man with a strong personality who could tell great stories. He enjoyed every moment of his life and was proud of everything he had seen and done, but nothing brought him greater pride than his family and all those who loved him.
Survivors include his children: Robert (Sharon) Denzel, Richard (Deb) Denzel; 8 grandchildren: Rand (Jamie) Campbell, Lisa Metzler, Stacy (Lee) Fetterhoff, Craig (Becky) Denzel, Abby (Jarred) Denzel, Timothy (Lori) Denzel, Scott (Amanda) Denzel, Josh (Kelly) Denzel; numerous great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; and his sister-in-law: Barbara Voight. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Irene; and his sister and brother-in-law: Stella (Buddy) Klein.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Hilbert. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home from 9:00 am until 10:45 am on Saturday, December 31, 2016.
