    • David J. Maddix, 66, Pulaski, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 after a short but terrible illness fighting ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease. Dave was born to James L. and Dolores (Willems) Maddix on June 12, 1948. He graduated from Green Bay West High, Class of 1967 and then went on to join the US Marine Corps. He was very proud to serve his entire tour as a Marine Cook, always bragging about some of his special meals for "his troops". He married Leeann jarvey in Green bay at nativity Catholic Church. After his service, Dave worked 17 years at Nicolet Paper in DePere at which time he was forced into disability retirement after a tragic motorcycle accident. After Dave lost his wife, Leeann to cancer in July 1999 he eventually lived with his mom and step-dad, Mike McCourt. They spent many hours playing cards, dice and games but his biggest excitement in life was always when his brother Dan "Mooch" picked him up to head for deer camp. He never stopped talking about his big hunt with his brother Mooch, brother-in-law, Don Schuessler and nephew, Paul - that 10 pointer is proudly hanging for all to see.

Dave is survived by his only daughter, Sheila (Brian) Higginbotham and their children, Jacob, Julia and Jena; two step-children, Doug (Nicole) Jarvey and their children, Victoria, Emma, and MacKenzie; Jessie Ponce and her children, Devin, Loren and Nicolas; his step-father, Mike McCourt; five sisters, Shirley (Don) Schuessler, Kathy (Don) Pouwels; Lisa (Ken McNeir) Gutowski, Laura VandeVen and Shelly McCourt; three brothers, Gary (Carol) Maddix, Mooch (Anne) Maddix, Ray Maddix, all local residents; and numerous nieces and nephews and relatives - too many to count.

Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Leeann; his parents, Jim and Dolores; and his brother, Jimmy Maddix.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Funeral Service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Military Honors will conclude. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyfuneralHome.com.

Since our mom died, Dave had made his home with his step-dad, Mike, who really stepped up to the plate and helped Lisa and Shirley take care of him right to the end.

A special thanks to Dr. Christina Fergus for all her care and concern.
