    • Green Bay - Joseph (Joe) Degeneffe, 77, Green Bay, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 surrounded by his family. Born November 5, 1940 in Oconto son of the late Joseph and Viola (Huisman) Degeneffe, he graduated from Peshtigo High School Class of 1959. On October 21, he married the former Lynne Rosenthal and the couple celebrated 55 happy years together.

Following high school Joe worked as a Herdsman for Marinette County. They moved to Green Bay and he worked at Fort Howard Paper as a machine operator until his retirement.

Joe's life revolved around his family. He took great pride in delivering his daughter, Jody in the family home. Joe loved spending time cottaging, eventually buying a cottage on Lake Hilbert. There he made many wonderful memories and friendships. He enjoyed water skiing, boating, bonfires and watching the loons and hummingbirds.

Joe had many different interests but especially enjoyed horse racing and was able to experience it first hand at the Kentucky Derby.

Joe will be remembered most for his quizzes, songs and many catch phrases. Joe will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He will forever be "one of our favorite people."

Joe is survived by his wife, Lynne and their children, Paul Degeneffe of Green Bay; Chaz (Lisa) Degeneffe of Green Bay; and Jody (Bill) Wyckoff of South Chase. Joe was also blessed with 5 grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Joshua, Jake, Mason, Melanie and Will; and 3 great grandchildren. He is further survived by siblings, Rachel Kuharske, Jerry (Annette) Degeneffe, Steve (Josie) Degeneffe; sister in law, Elaine (Stan) Gotter and Marilyn Rosenthal; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by, his mother and father in law, Lester and Marie Rosenthal; brothers, Roger and Jack (Sally); and sisters, Mary Ellen (Mark) Peeters, Joann (Mark) Neisen; brothers in law, Dan Kuharske and Don Rosenthal.

Relatives and friends are invited at Nativity of Our Lord Church Thursday, April 19, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM with services to follow at 11:00 AM.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Nunzio Gaglianello, Frodtert Hospital for his care and compassion over the past five years, and Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home in Peshtigo for their guidance and sensitivity.
