Zelten, Ronald E.
Ronald Edward Zelten, 70, West Lafayette, died at 3:30 Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Home Hospital.
Born Dec. 8, 1938, in Green Bay, Wis., he was the son of the late Everson and Emma Vanderheiden Zelten.
He graduated in 1958, from De Pere High School in Wisconsin. He lived in Syracuse, N.Y., from 1962 to 1985, before moving to West Lafayette.
He married Rosalie Teresa Downie on Aug. 22, 1962, in Syracuse and she survives. Mr. Zelten served in the Navy submarine service from June 1958 to June 1962, in Groton, Conn.
He was employed at General Foods from 1962 to 1985, then worked in administrative services at State Farm Insurance, before retiring in 2009. He was a member of Church of the Blessed Sacrament.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Timothy Zelten (wife, Paula), Lafayette; and Patrick Zelten (wife, Deborah), Chicago; three daughters, Jacqueline Pace (companion, Mike McIver) and Tammy Zelten (companion, Dan Roden), both of Lafayette; and Lisa Lacayo (husband, Jorge), Indianapolis; and three sisters and two brothers, all of De Pere. Also surviving are eight grandchildren.
Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Soller-Baker West Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway W., WL. Graveside Military Rites by Indiana ARNG, Honor Guard. Funeral Mass was 10 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Blessed Sacrament, Fr. Ambrose Ziegler, officiating. Interment Tippecanoe Memory Garden. Online condolences can be sent to www.soller-baker.com.
