    • McCrory, Mary A.
      (Freund)
      Appleton

Mary died peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2008 while holding the hand of her son, Tracy. She was able to say, "I love you" to both sons the day before she slipped into the presence of the Lord.

Mary was a kind and loving woman. She was sincerely concerned for the welfare of others always putting others first. She was a real caretaker and took care of her special friend, Victor McDaniels the last years of his life. She was grateful to him for his many kindnesses to her and the bus trips they took together to the casino. She was a caring mother and was very proud of her sons, Jeff and Tracy. Many will remember her conversations laced with color and the many laughs she afforded everyone with her sense of humor. Mary enjoyed visiting and going out with her friend and sister-in-law Ceil and niece Lucy "Babe" and her many other girl friends. She was the last of ten children and suffered the loss of her siblings with heartfelt pain. These last years were difficult for Mary as her health denied her the freedom of easy mobility. The highlights of her last two years were the dinners that Tracy was sure to take her to several times a week, his daily visits, and his attention to her health. She looked forward to Jeff's faithful, every-second-day phone calls. She was blessed with having caring, thoughtful sons who saw to all of her needs. One of Jeff's fondest memories is walking along the Fox River enjoying nature with his Mom. One of Tracy's favorite recent memories was watching the deer herd with his Mom on a special country road.

Mary spent the last year and a half at Grand Horizons Assisted Living. The family would like to thank the nurses, aides, and especially Nancy, her friend and activity director, who kept Mary "Pretty" at the time that prevented her from doing that herself. The family is grateful for the love shown to Mary in her last days. When hearing of Mary's death, one nursing staff member remarked, "We have lost our "livewire." The family also thanks Theda Care at Home for their assisting in her last hours. She enjoyed her visits with Fr. Gerald Falk and considered him a good friend.

She is survived by her son Jeffrey (Sara) McCrory of Atlanta, Georgia and their expected child, Julien Robert McCrory; her son Tracy McCrory (special friend, Lynn), both of Appleton; her former husband, Robert McCrory; and her numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. The boys would also like to thank their Aunt Alice and Uncle Blaine for loving their Mom and for giving help, wherever needed.

Mary says "Don't worry about me, I'll still be kickin and bitchin. Please come dressed casual as you are, who the hell is going to care".

The funeral liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 N. McDonald St, Appleton, with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the liturgy. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Mary's name is being established.
