- David V. Freund, age 69, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died peacefully Friday, July 10, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family after his long struggle with cancer.
Funeral Services are 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. G. Valentine Joseph will officiate. Visitation will be at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI from 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday and also on Wednesday at the Church from 10:00-11:00 AM.
Dave was born September 6, 1945 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to Vincent and Angela Freund. He married Carolyn Drollinger on October 26, 1963 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Dave was employed at Eron & Gee as a plumber, then became a steamfitter for Local Union #778 and retired as co-owner, with his son, Brad, of Welding Services Plus.
Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, camping and spending time up north at his land. He always loved watching his grandchildren in sports including softball, wrestling and baseball and was very proud of their achievements.
Dave is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two sons, Todd (Dawn) Freund and Brad (Kerri) Freund both of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; two daughters, Lori (Tim) Swadley of Stoughton, WI and Jodi (Rob) Hess of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; eleven grandchildren, Ryan (Gretchen) Swadley, Matthew (Shannon) Swadley, Dustin Hess, Jennifer Hess, Angela Hess, Ben Freund, Tyler (Brianna) Freund, Jordan (Brittany) Freund, Adam Freund, Ashly Freund and Nathan Freund; two step grandchildren, Traci (Lee) Graf and Heather (Andrew) Wells and four great grandchildren.
Dave is also survived by 4 sisters, Janice (Patrick) Buckley, LouAnn (Bill) Hiles, Jeanne (Dennis) Treu and Debra (Curt) Orlowski all of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; sisters-in-law, Peg Drollinger, Donna Burgeson and Joyce Lee and brother-in-law, Francis Drollinger.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Viola Drollinger.
In lieu of flowers, the family will present a donation to Hope Lodge at a later date.
