- Henry A. Vanden Elzen, 90, Green Bay, died Sunday, February 3, 2002, at a local nursing home where he resided the last four years. He was born July 2, 1911, in Bellevue to the late John and Antoinette Vanden Heuvel Vanden Elzen. On June 17, 1936, he married Mary Barlament at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in the Village of Howard and enjoyed 63 years of marriage together until her death on October 3, 1999. He was a member of St. Jude Parish. Henry had several jobs during his lifetime including working at Green Bay Soap Co., Green Bay and Western Railroad, Kraft Foods, Straubel Paper Co., and Verifine Dairy, from which he retired in 1968 after many years. Henry was very involved as an officer of the St. Willebrord Catholic Order of Foresters for many years and participated in several bowling, dartball, and horseshoe leagues. He also enjoyed playing sheepshead at family gatherings. He is survived by a son, Bernard Vanden Elzen, Green Bay; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Arvin Lambert, Green Bay; six grandchildren and their spouses, Donald and Karen Lambert, Green Bay, Sandra and Jerome Krines, Green Bay, Karen and Ramiro Martinez, Lena, Wis., Diane and Jerry Vincent, Green Bay, Lynn and Jon OConnell, Green Bay, Patricia and Mark Winske, Omro; 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary; a brother, John Vanden Elzen Jr.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Petronella and Stephen De Groot. Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday today. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday today. Friends may also call at St. Jude Catholic Church from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Ron Belitz officiating. Entombment will be in Allouez Catholic Mausoleum. Henrys family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Woodside Nursing Home for their loving care and kindness over the last several years. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established in Henrys name.
