      PIONEER APPLETON RESIDENT IS DEAD
      Mrs. Martin Toonen, 75, Dies After A 7 Week Illness

      Mrs. Martin Toonen, 75, 502 E. Lincoln St., a resident of this city nearly all of her life, died at 2:30 this morning at her home after an illness of 7 weeks. Born in the Town of Buchanan February 1, 1863, her maiden name was Louise Hopfensperger. She was married November 4, 1884. She and her husband, who died three months ago, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary three years ago. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Christian Mothers Society.

      Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. F. V. Hauch and Mrs. Martin Dietzler, Appleton; three sons, Frank M., Duluth, Minnesota, Leo J. Appleton, and Raymond S. Kaukauna; 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

      The funeral will be held at 8:30 Saturday morning at the residences and at 9 o'clock at the Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. F.L. Ruessmann in charge. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. The body will be at the residences from Thursday afternoon to the hour of services and prayer services will be conducted there at 7:30 Thursday night and by the Christian Mothers Society at 7:30 Friday night.
