Daniel J. Hopfensperger, 1833 N. Charolette St., Appleton, age 81 died suddenly on Wednesday, October 18, 1989. He was born on November 19, 1907, in the Town of Harrison, the son of the late John and Mary ( Probst ) Hopfensperger. Daniel married Agnes E. Rosenthal on November 26, 1927. He farmed most of his life, moving to Appleton in 1947 where he worked for Knoke Lumber Company for 20 years, and retired from Badger Northland in 1972. He was a member of the Appleton Senior Center where he was active with the Meal program. Daniel enjoyed working in his garden and working with wood.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes (Rosenthal) Hopfensperger; three daughters and sons in-law; Lorraine and Robert Nabbefeld; Joyce and Harold Ashton, all of Kaukauna; Frances and Donald Worden, Black Creek; a son, Eugene Hopfensperger, Lancaster, Ca.; three sisters; Kathryn Vanden Linder; Caroline Weidenhoff, both of Appleton; Marie Seidling, Berlin. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Sgt. 1 Class Daniel Hopfensperger in September 1950; a month old daughter, LaVerna; and four brothers.
Complete funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 21, 1989, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1825 N. McDonald St., with Father Gerald R. Falk officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 n. Superior St., on Friday from 4 until 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until the cortege leaves for the church. A prayer and scripture service will be held on Friday at 7:30. A memorial fund is being established.
