Jansen, Eugene R. Eugene R. Jansen, "Gene," Menasha, age 77, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2006, at his residence with his family at his side. He was born on September 24, 1928, in Little Chute, son of the late Henry J. and Loretta (Coenen) Jansen. Gene married Rita Wagner on February 24, 1951, in Washington D.C. Gene was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. and was a part of the Korean Conflict. He was employed as an ink technician with Marathon/Sun Chemical Corporation from 1950 until 1992, when he retired after 42 years. Gene loved playing cards, going up north to the family cottage, and crossword puzzles. Gene was an avid reader and enjoyed watching the Packers and listening to the Brewers. He especially loved the time he spent with his grandchildren and family. Gene is survived by his wife, Rita, their children: Steve (Marlene) Jansen, John Jansen, Chris Jansen, Lori (Steve) Nelson, and Lisa (Josh) Michalkiewicz; grandchildren: Matthew (Katie) Jansen, Morgan and Carly Michalkiewicz; a sister, Yvonne (Lyle) Butts; a brother Earl Jansen; sisters-in-law: Margaret Faust and Helen Prestipino; and brother-in-law, Paul (Ellie) Dohr. Eugene is further survived by other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Dohr, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Burnell (Virginia) Wagner, John Faust, and Hank Prestipino. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 516 De Pere Street, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Radetski officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will take place in St. John Cemetery, Menasha. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established. Gene's family would like to thank the "girls" of ThedaCare Hospice: Beth, Nancy, Carmen, Candice, Gina, Amber, Shelly, Sheila, and Kathy for their caring and kindness in their time of need.
