Gene was born October 26, 1926, in Eau Claire, WI to the late Arthur and Caroline (Nowak) Meyer and moved to Lena, WI as a small child. He graduated from Lena High School as salutatorian in 1944. He married Joanne Rueden at St. Denis Catholic Church in Shiocton May 5, 1956.

Gene served his country during the Korean War. He retired from McKesson Corporation. Gene volunteered for over twenty years at the Hortonville Community Food Pantry serving on it's Building Committee and its Board of Directors. Gene loved nature and all it had to offer. He enjoyed his many trips to Canada fishing and his Tuesday morning card games with the guys. Gene was a member of The Knights of Columbus Council #7895. He was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Greenville for over 50 years. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his bountiful harvest with many friends. Gene liked all types of music, especially classical. He sang in the church choir for many years.
