Anton M. Verkuilen Pickerel, Wisconsin
Age 91, formerly of Little Chute, died Sunday, October 22, 1995 at Century Oaks in Menasha. He was born in Little Chute on April 28, 1904 the son of Mathew and Catherine (Vosters) Verkuilen. On August 7, 1928 he was united in marriage to the former Miss Veronica Sigl. Following their marriage the couple lived in Little Chute. Tony worked for Kimberly Clark until 1946 at which time he started his own repair shop in Little Chute and owned and operated it until he retired in 1967 when he and Veronica moved to Pickerel. They resided there ever since. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pickerel and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years; two sons; Jim (Corrine), Pickerel and John, Appleton; three daughters; Marion (Bob) Smaxwill, Appleton; Peggy Eggert, Appleton; Judy (Bob) Payne, Neenah; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; a brother; Alvin (Karlene) Verkuilen, Winneconne; a sister in-law, Viola Verkuilen, Kaukauna; many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Louie, Leo and Harvey; three sisters; Dolores VanDalwyk, Blanche Kortz and Josephine Onkels.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wedneday, October 25, 1995 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pickerel with Fr. Joe Bauschka officiating. Friends may call from 4 unti 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Valley Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. vigil and on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
