Lom, Josephine M. 'Josie'
Appleton
Age 78, died Sunday, January 5, 2003 at Cherry Meadows in Peabody Manor. She was born in Little Chute on December 3, 1924 to the late Anton and Marie (Janssen) Van Gompel. On May 6, 1944 she married Herbert Lom, he preceded her in death on June 14, 2002. Josephine was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Mackville and a member of the Christian Women there. She was also a member of the Town of Center Homemaker Club and a member of the WOW Club. Josephine enjoyed her work with the Town of Center Election Board, which she did for over 40 years.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters: Sister Anne Marie Lom, Oshkosh; Vicky (Dennis) Vosters, Little Chute; and Patricia (James) Seegers, Appleton; grandchildren: Kristi (Craig) Krieski, Jamie (Michelle) Vosters, Jeremy Vosters, Joey Vosters, Sarah (Matt) Holz, Nichole (fiance Nic Smith) Seegers, Emily Seegers; great-grandchildren, Jacob Vosters, Anna and Ashley Krieski; special brother and sister, Marc (Mary) Van Gompel, Little Chute; and Lynda (Norbert) Weyers, Kaukauna; sisters-in-law: Catherine Van Gompel, Little Chute; Del Verhagen, Kaukauna; Eve Lom, Appleton; sisters: Imelda Walker, Kaukauna; and Genevieve (Peter) Schmalz, Darboy; brother, Richard (Audrey) Van Gompel, Little Chute; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Lom; brothers, James and Henry Van Gompel; sister, Regina Van Gompel; brothers-in-law: Walter Verhagen, Ed Lom and Robert Walker; sister-in-law, June Van Gompel; and step mother, Marge Van Gompel.
The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at 11 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church in Mackville. The visitation will be on Tuesday at the funeral home from 4 until 7 p.m. and again on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. There will be a vigil service on Tuesday at 7 p.m. with the Franciscan Sisters at the funeral home. According to Josephines wishes the casket will be closed for the visitation. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy a memorial has been established.
