      Nicholas J. Vande Voort, 65, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday morning, January 25, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 20, 1951, son of the late Merlin and Marie (Smits) Vande Voort in Oneida.

      On January 29, 1972, he was united in marriage to Linda Zarnoth.

      Nick was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Oneida.

      He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Lori Vande Voort; son, Jake (Katie) Vande Voort; grandchildren: Cole (fiancée Kelley), Wyatt, Wesley and Robby; siblings: Bill Vande Voort, Ruth Ann Boyea, Patrick (Bonnie) Vande Voort, Jean (Sam) Johnson, Daniel (Gale) Vande Voort, Joseph (Dorothy) Vande Voort, Jerry (Dawn) Vande Voort, Thomas (special friend Robin) Vande Voort, Barbara Scott, David (Carol) Vande Voort; mother-in-law, Ardell Zarnoth; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Jolene Vande Voort, David (Kaye) Zarnoth, Diane (Lee) Genske, LuAnn Zarnoth, Debra (Jeff) Stray, Jean (Tom) Eick and Tina Palubicki.

      Nick is preceded in death by his son Jeffrey; brothers, Kenneth and Mark; father-in-law, Floyd Zarnoth, and brother-in-law, Mike Zarnoth.

      Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Friday, February 3, 2017 from 4-8 PM and a celebration of Nick's life will continue at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Oneida on Saturday, February 4, 2017, from 9 AM until funeral mass at 11 AM with Father John Chrysostom Katamba and Deacon Bobby Doxtator officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

      The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the staff at Aurora Vince Lombardi Cancer Center, especially Dr. Gautam for the quality care, kindness and compassion provided.

      Even though his family and friends are saddened by Nick's death, we are all blessed and fortunate to have had him in our lives.
