      ALVIN R. GOLZ
      2715 N. Viola St., Appleton
      Age 67, passed away Friday, September 30, 1994 at the Appleton Medical Center. He was born July 1, 1927, in Oshkosh, the son of the late Alvin W. Golz and Elda (Meske) Golz. On June 12, 1954 he married the former Mary Belling in Appleton; she survives. He was a graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. For 35 years, Al was employed by Valley Bank, retiring in 1986 as Vice President of Lending. After retirement, accepting a position with Evans Title Company as a sales representative. He also volunteered his time at the Fox Valley Chamber of Commerce. Al was a member of the Red Smith Banquet Committee and the Children's Hospital Golf Outing Committee. He served a four year term on the Wisconsin Dental Licensing Board and was active in countless other community activities and organizations. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Fox Valley Golf Club. For many years Al was a committed and faithful member of First English Lutheran Church where he served as chairman of the Counting Committee; served as the church treasurer and in many other capacities within the congregation. Survivors include his wife, Mary, Appleton; his mother, Elda Golz, Appleton; two sons: Robert (Kathy) Golz, Menasha; Steven Golz, Appleton; four beloved and special grandchildren: Jason and Ashly Golz and Jacob and Matthew Golz; his godmother and special aunt, Irene Dellmann, South Gate, California; brothers and sisters-in-law; Don and Jean Burmeister and John and Nancy Belling, Appleton. Al is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Complete funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 1994 at FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, corner of North and Draw Streets, Appleton, with Rev. J. Christian Quello officiating. THe family will receive relatives and friends Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. at he WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior St. and again Tuesday directly at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of services. A memorial fund in Al's name has been established.
