- Hazel Marie Haen (Mrs. Bernard Haen), age 92, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013, at St. Paul Hospice, Kaukauna. Hazel was born January 12, 1920, in Green Bay, daughter of the late Jacob and Lena (Aerts) Guerts. She married Bernard Haen on August 27, 1939. Hazel worked at Luedtkes 5 and 10 for many years.
Hazel is survived by her children: Dave (special friend Barb Gmeiner) Haen, Paul ( special friend Barb Palacios) Haen, Keith Haen, Pat (James "George") Kessler; grandchildren: Kim (Steve) Rohan, Karen (Keith) Merkatoris, Kathy Stock, Darrel (Tammy) Haen, Dawn (Brian) Van Boxtel, Renee (Clayton) Childs, Holly (Jeffery) Lemm, Christine (Mike) Dietzen; great-grandchildren: Jennifer, Katie and Tyler Kessler, Gorman and Marshall Stock, Maty and Morgan Merkatoris, Kayla and Katelyn Haen, Isabella Van Boxtel, Solstice and Kianna Childs, Emily, Natalie and Audrey Lemm, Brooke and Blake Dietzen; great-great-grandchildren: Noah Mohrlak and Rose Nash; two special grand-dogs: Sheba and Morgan; and many special nieces and nephews who thought of Hazel as their second mother.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; an infant son, Donnie; a grandson, Mark Kessler; three sisters: Evelyn Murphy, Elsie Smith and Mildred Micholic.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, St. Mary's Church, 119 W. 7th Street, Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to an animal shelter of your choice in memory of Hazel.
Hazel's family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff on St. Elizabeth's 4th floor and the staff of St. Paul's Hospice for their wonderful care of Hazel.
