Gerald A. Maertz 'Ger Babe' 818 Ridge Lane Appleton
Age 68, died Tuesday, August 15, 1995 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born on August 13, 1927 in the Town of Grand Chute to Raymond J. Maertz and the Rose [Spoerl] Maertz. He married the former Geraldine I. Kilsdonk on May 15, 1951 at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute. He was an instrument technician and pipe fitter, employed at the John Strange Paper Co., Menasha for 34 years, and then employed at Kimtech for 15 years, retiring in 1992. While at Kemtech, he was at KC-de Mexico for 1 year. He was a charter member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, was on the Buildings and Grounds Committee, was a director at the John Strange Paper Credit Union, NAPE, and the Knights of Columbus, Council 607. He was an avid gardener, bowler, fisher, handyman and enjoyed attending auctions.
Survivors besides his wife and father include two daughters; Sue [Karl] Schrampfer, Appleton; Maria [Mike] DeBont, Neenah; three sons; Steve [Kim], Appleton; Dan [Mary] Neenah; Tim, Appleton; a brother, Karl [Judy] Maertz, Appleton; three sisters; Theo [Spin] Wyngaard, Brillion; Marilyn Evers, Darboy; Alice [Moe] Mollen, Brillion; two sisters in-law; Henriette [Ken] Lenz, Neenah; Rose Knight, Appleton; two brothers in-law; Norb [Mary] Kilsdonk, Little Chute; Les [Beth] Kilsdonk, Kaukauna; eight grandchildren; Laura and Sara Schrampfer, Rochelle Maertz, Chris and Corey Maertz, Bob and Becky Ellingson, Joey DeBont.
The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 1995 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St. with Fr. Orville H. Janssen officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St. on Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. and again at the church on Friday at 10 a.m. until the time of service. There will be a Bible Vigil at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Gerald was a loving husband, caring father, and a generous grandfather- he will be greatly missed, Ger Babe.
