      Marcel Lamers

Marcel Lamers, a loyal Packer backer, journeyed home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 after a courageous fight with cancer.

The youngest of 11 children, he is survived by one brother, Gene, and four sisters, Rose Schmidt (Francis), Mary Nackers, Frances Haen (Robert) and Emily VanderWyst (Gordy).

Marcel graduated from St. Paul's Seminary in Minnesota. While stationed in the Marine Corps. in Opa Locka, Fla. in 1958 he met and married Marilyn Marquis, his wife and friend of 55 years. Upon his discharge from the service, they moved to Wisconsin and raised their family. Most of his career was spent working in industrial relations and human resources. They returned to Florida in 1986 and after retiring from McCotter Ford, he worked as a ranger at Cocoa Beach Country Club for 14 years.

He loved to compete in golf and other sports, and was an avid sports fan, especially when it involved his children and grandchildren. His family and friends will truly miss his singing phone messages on special occasions. He attended daily Mass and belonged to the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years.

He is survived by his wife and seven children, Vince Lamers, Julie Mariani (Steve), Marcella Dick (Eric), Andrew Lamers (Rosemary), Ann Krostue, Patricia Heidenreich (David) and Bart Lamers (Kersti) and 20 grandchildren.

Services will be held at Our Saviour's Catholic Church in Cocoa Beach, Fla. on Monday, March 18 at 10 a.m. followed by burial in the Memorial Garden. If desired, donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
