Funeral services for Peter Verbeten, 88, 142 N. Jane St, Kimberly, were at noon Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly, with the Rev. Msgr. Carl Steiner officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery. Mr. Verbeten died Friday evening, January 9, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton, after a short illness.
He was born July 7, 1892 in Combined Locks and moved to Kimberly as a young child, where he had since resided. He had worked for the village of Kimberly, and was custodian at the Kimberly High School until his retirement. Mr. Verbeten was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, and was an usher at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Van Lanen Verbeten; three daughters, Mrs. Rosann Van Ryzin of Appleton, Mrs. Robert [Gretchen] Hornung of Fond du Lac, and Mrs. Maynard [Julienne] Rusch of Kimberly; two sons, and daughters in-law, Francis and Marie Verbeten of Kimberly, and Richard and Janet of New Franken; a sister Mrs. Dena Jansen of Minnesota; twenty grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Wade Van Ryzin, Richard Rusch, Robert Hornung, Mark and Michael Verbeten and Gary Van Ryzin. Hororary pallbearere were James Michael and Tim Rusch, John Verbeten and David, Peter, and Don Hornung.
The Jansen-Fargo Funeral Home, Kimberly, was in charge arrangements.
