    • Hilbert – Andrew Gehl, Sr., 76, of Hilbert, passed away Monday afternoon after a short illness.
      The son of John and Anna Gehl, the deceased was born at Rehlingen, Germany, on May 10, 1869. He came to the United States at the age of 14, settling in Red Oaks, Iowa, and two years later moved to Hilbert, where he has since resided.

      His marriage to Miss Anna Britten was performed at St. John, Calumet County, on Nov. 3, 1891. Following their marriage the couple settled on a farm in Hilbert. The deceased was a member of St. Mary's Catholic parish, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Holy Name Society of that parish.

      Surviving are his widow; seven sons, Mathias, Kohler; the Rev. Fr. John Gehl, Green Bay; Cyril, Andrew and Clarence of Hilbert; Joseph of Forest Junction, and Aloysius, Brillion; five daughters, Mrs. Anton (Emma) Braun, Kohler; Mrs. Ervin (Anna) Zimmermann, Fond du Lac; Mrs. Othmar (Mathilda) Gilsdorf, Sherwood, Wis.; Mrs. Norbert (Marie) Weber, Sheboygan, and Mrs. Roland (Rosemund) Kees, Francis Creek. Thirty-nine grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.

      Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's church. A solemn requiem high mass will be celebrated by the son of the deceased, the Rev. John Gehl of Green Bay. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery.
