    • Thomas J. Nienhaus, Appleton, age 70, died peacefully in his sleep on December 28, 2013 at his home. He was born May 17, 1943 in Little Chute, WI, son of the late Frank and Frances (Schultz) Nienhaus. Tom attended St. John Nepomucene Elementary School in Little Chute, WI and graduated from Sacred Heart Seminary in Oneida, WI in 1961. He worked for Appleton Mills for many years. After his retirement, Tom worked for the Kimberly School System and the Appleton Post Crescent. He officiated many softball games and enjoyed sports, particularly the Wisconsin Badgers.

      Tom is survived by his daughter, Sister Cynthia Nienhaus, CSA of Fond du Lac; his son, James (Melissa) Nienhaus of Appleton; two grandchildren: Emily and Sarah; one sister: Geraldine (Gerald) Kempen, Darboy; three brothers: Lyle (Lola) Nienhaus, Kaukauna, Richard (Gloria) Nienhaus, Kaukauna, and Harold (Nancy) Nienhaus, Appleton; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including his favorite cousin, Mary Beth Nienhaus, Appleton.

      Tom was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

      A Mass of Resurrection for Tom will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 2, 2014 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 213 E Wisconsin Ave., Appleton with Rev. William Hoffman officiating. Friends may visit the family Thursday at church from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute, WI.
