Staley, Genrose E.
Genrose Staley, 92, Little Chute, died Friday, May 9, 2008, at Parkside Care Center, Little Chute. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was born Nov. 28, 1915, in Kimberly, the daughter of the late Richard and Josephine Cavil. Genrose married Leo (Baker) Verstegen in 1938, and he preceded her in death Dec. 11, 1948. She raised six children under the age of seven years alone. After her children were grown, she married Henry "Jack" Staley and he preceded her in death. She was employed at Tony Wonder's Club in Little Chute for 17 years. She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, the Golden Agers, in which she was president for 11 years, and the American Legion Auxiliary Jacob Coppus Post. She and her friends from her school days were known as the Golden Girls and loved to go out to eat and talk. She was an avid sheephead player and enjoyed watching golf, especially Tiger Woods.
Genrose is survived by her daughters, Shawn (Kenneth) Olm, Rib Mountain; Sharyl (James) Evers, Appleton; Rochelle (James) Stoffel, Little Chute; and Sharlene "Babe" (Kenneth) Peeters, Freedom; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosemary Tousey, Appleton; and Gloria Kraft, Kimberly; two sisters-in-law, Rita (Urban) De Bruin, Combined Locks; and Lillian (Stanley) Verstegen, Little Chute. She is also survived by her best friend from childhood, Edna Strick, Kimberly; and other good friends, Sis Weyenberg, Little Chute; Elva Wildenberg, Kaukauna; David and Rosalie Rausch, Seymour; and Sandi Hinc, Kimberly.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sharon Verstegen; a son, Keith Verstegen; a grandson, Joseph Evers; a brother, Richard Cavil; a sister, Charlotte Zepherin; numerous in-laws; and good friend, Duce Weyenberg.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at St. John Nepomucene Church with Msgr. Jim Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the mass.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Grieve not or speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you. I loved you so. "It was heaven here with you."
