- Mrs. Frances Williams, widow of the late John Williams, a veteran of the Civil war, passed away at her home in Linwood at 2 p.m. Tuesday after an illness of 12 years with diabetes and complications. For nearly two years she had been confined to her bed. She had recently spent a few weeks in the Veterans Home hospital but the authorities refused to keep her any longer because her mind was childish.
Frances Eastman was born in the town of Lind, Waupaca county, 65 years ago last August and was married in 1857 to John Williams. They came to Linwood about 35 years ago and have resided there ever since. Mr. Williams dying about 12 years ago. They were the parents of nine children of whom only four survive. They are William, Louis, and Alvin Williams of Linwood and Mrs. Julia Larson of this city. Another son, Alfred, was shot and killed while hunting near Dancy about five years ago. The deceased is also survived by her aged father, Thomas Eastman, sr., of Dale, who is 97 years of age, also by two brothers and an sister, Thomas Eastman, jr., of Dancy, A. D. Eastman of Waupaca and Mrs. Ellis Eastman of Dale.
The funeral will be held from the home of William Williams Saturday at 10 a.m., Rev. C. F. Spray officiating. The interment will follow in Plover Hills cemetery.
