- Magdalyn Marie Gluza, 78, Kennan, died on Monday, September in the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips while under the care of her family and Flambeau Home Health and Hospice. She was born in Catawba, Wisconsin, on May 29, 1939, the daughter of Bernard and Theresa (Timmers) Kempen. She attended the Phillips High School. She was married to Henry Hank Gluza on September 6, 1954 in Kennan, Wisconsin. She worked in Chicago, Illinois, for many years, first as factory worker and then as a Dietary Aid in Chicago area schools. She and Hank returned to Kennan at the time of their retirement in 1986. While in Kennan she cooked and tended bar at Frostys in Kennan. She was a member of Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church of Catawba. She was an active volunteer at the Phillips Achievement Center Thrift Store. In her free time she enjoyed time with her family, cooking, and remodeling her home.
She is survived by one son, Dave Henry, Kennan; by one daughter, Danette (Bryce) Rudolph, Medford; by 8 grandchildren; by one brother, Cyril (Marilyn) Kempen, Kennan; by two sisters, Dorothy (Robert) Rogalla, Kennan, and Marilyn Van De Voort, Phillips; by one brother-in-law, Clayton Selkey, Montello, WI; and by one sister-in-law, Barbara Kempen, Muskego, WI. She was preceded in death by her usband, Henry, on January 29, 2010; and is also preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Kempen and by one sister, Delores Selkey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 15, at Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Kennan with Father Gerald Hagen celebrating the Funeral Mass. Interment will be in the Kennan Cemetery in Kennan.
