- Patricia L. Narten, age 77, a resident of St. Mary's at Felician Village,
Manitowoc, died on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at the home.
She was born on Feb. 8, 1930, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Charles
and Clara (Christoff) Novak. Pat attended St. Paul Catholic Grade School
and graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, class of 1948. On
Jan. 20, 1950, she married Elmer Narten in Iowa. He preceded her in death
on June 30, 2004, after 54 years of marriage. Pat worked at Holy Family
Memorial Hospital and Michigan Shores for many years, a job she absolutely
loved. She enjoyed the friendships developed with her co-workers, and the
many people she was able to help. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul
Catholic Church, now St. Francis of Assisi. In her retirement, she enjoyed
bus trips, and shopping out of town with her special friend, (private). She
loved spending time with her grandchildren, her flowers, golf, long walks,
reading and her front porch, where she watched the world go by. She
especially liked Sunday. She and Elmer would go to visit the local pubs or
The Yacht Club and see their friends. In the summertime, they would often
meet with their dear friends of over 50 years, Shirley and Phil Wall, who
would spend summers here from California.
(Survivors omitted for privacy.)
She was preceded in death by one brother: Bob Novak; two sisters and
brothers-in-law: Pearl and Randy Glasow, and Arlene and Jim Nemec; and a
sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Kurt and Fern Karten.
