    • Mary (Tarnowski) Van Ryzin, 91, of Duluth, died Saturday Sept. 16, 2006 at Franciscan Health Center. She was born July 19, 1915 in Gnesen, MN to Paul and Rosie (Mosiniak) Tarnowski.

      Mary graduated from Duluth Central High School. She married Gerrit Van Ryzin on Feb. 17, 1944. She worked for Standard Oil of Indiana and she owned and operated a private nursery child school for 15 years until her retirement. Mary was a Girl Scout Leader at Holy Rosary School. She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, Plus 55 Club, University New Chapter 926 AAAP, and the Benedictine Health Center Auxiliary.

      She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Kathryn Hallamek and Florence Tarnowski; brothers, Ignace, Joseph and Steven Tarnowski; sons-in-law, Harvey Even and Allan Dooley.

      Mary is survived by her husband, Gerrit; daughters, Mary Paul Even of Des Moines. Iowa, Margaret T. Dooley of Tuttle, Okla; brother, Paul (Hope) Tarnowski of Shoreview, Minn.; sisters, Vickie Hennum of Duluth, Helen Breen of Fulda, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Junella and Helen Tarnowski; five grandchildren, Inessa Even and Anya (Peter) Lee, Zachary (Stacy), Lee and Josh Dooley; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

      MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL:1 p.m. Wednesday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary. Visitation one hour prior to mass. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
