      A solemn requiem mass was celebrated Wednesday for Mrs. William Berg, nee Barbara Weber who died Monday July 31, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Math Schlaefer with whom she resided. Mrs. Berg was 92 years old, born May 15, 1858 in Milwaukee County, a daughter of Mathias and Barbara Weber. The deceased was married Aug 27, 1879 in the church of the
      Blessed Sacrament, Milwaukee to William Berg, who died Mar 2, 1944. The couple lived in Lomira for 20 years, then moved to the Town of Ashford and 30 years ago took up residence in town.

      Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Barbara Sommers and Mrs. Elizabeth Bonesho, Milwaukee; Mrs. Jos. Schlaefer, Mrs. Math Schlaefer and Mrs. Michael Hall of here; two sons, Arnold of here and Edward of West Bend; 26 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Margaret Schaefer, Milwaukee, Another daughter, Mrs. Joseph Butschlick, preceded her in death.

      Funeral services were held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the Twohig funeral home and at 9 a.m. at St. Matthew's church with burial in the church cemetery.

      Three grandsons officiated at the burial of their grandmother: The celebrant was Rev. Father Salvator Schlaefer, O. F. M. Cap. Of Bluefields, Nicaragua; Rev. Wm. Bonesho of Racine served as deacon; and Fr. Austin Schlaefer of Marathon was sub-deacon. A grand-nephew, Mr. Donald Berg of Tomah assisted as master of ceremonies. Six grandsons of the deceased served as pallbearers, namely, Francis Sommers, Florian Butschlick, Alois Berg, George Bonesho, Bernard Hall and Wm. Berg. The deceased was a member of the Christian Mother Society who attended in a body. Relatives from Milwaukee, Kaukauna, Appleton, Pewaukee, Merton, West Bend, Ashford, Kewaskum and Lomira attended the funeral."
