- John K. Quinn, age 77, of New London, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2008. John was born in Kaukauna on March 8, 1931, son of the late Charles and Cecelia (Klawitter) Quinn. He was united in marriage to Barbara Moder on August 10, 1963, in Hortonville. John taught and coached at Hortonville High School for 15 years. He worked at Curwood in New London for six years. John was principal at Necedah High School for six years and was principal at Most Precious Blood Elementary School for three years, until his retirement. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, watching the Packers and Brewers, reading and keeping track of the stock market. John was never at a loss to tell a joke and he never stopped teaching. He served his country in the U.S. Army, was a Korean War veteran, and a Bronze Star recipient.
John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara; a son, Kevin (Andrea) Quinn, Cambridge, MA; a sister, Ramona Kludt, Albuquerque, NM; two sisters-in-law: Elaine Dorn, Lodi, WI; and Laurel Ethier, Rio Rancho, NM; a granddaughter, Lilian. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by a son, Ryan; a brother, Robert; a sister, Diane; father-in-law and mother-in-law Lawrence and Bernice Moder; and a brother-in-law Bill Moder.
Funeral Mass for John will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London with Fr. David Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, where military graveside rites will be held. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Residence for the excellent care given to John; to Dr. Kevin Mortara, who made the last year of John's life possible; and also to Dr. Jack Swanson and the staff of the Martha Siekman Cancer Center.
