- Saturday [July 12, 1913] morning another old settler of this section passed beyond. William Roloff, who lived on the old Sexton farm in Hortonia, died after a brief illness of pneumonia complicated by arteriosclerosis. He had reached 61 years of age and was one of the highly respected farmers of this section having lived out on the Shawano road for many years before moving to his present location. He is survived by seven sons, four daughters and a sister all of whom were present for the funeral. Services were held at the home, at the Lutheran church in Hortonia and at the church here. Burial was in the Maple Creek cemetery. A large number of friends attended the funeral ceremonies.
