Helen M. Murphy, age 83, died peacefully Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at the Appleton Medical Center. The daughter of the late Arnold and Mary (Klapperick) Stephani, was born April 6, 1919 in Black Creek. She was united in marriage to John Murphy on August 20, 1939 in Black Creek. Helen loved to be with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed putting puzzles together and would never miss The Lawrence Welk Show on Saturday nights. She spent many hours selling Avon products to her family and many friends. Helen was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Black Creek and the Christian Mother's Society.
She is survived by her four sons and three daughters-in-law: Ronald (Sharon) Murphy, Fond du Lac Larry Murphy, Appleton Dennis (Cindy) Murphy, Appleton Pat (Jackie) Murphy, Black Creek 12 grandchildren: Mary, John, Suzy, Tracy, Michael, Cori, Beth, Sarah, Cindy, Susan, Robin, Tina and eight great-grandchildren: Austin, Ashley, Dakota, Arnold III, Kevin, Jack, Charles, and Jacob. She is further survived by two sisters: Caroline (Milo) Rettler and Marcella Rettler, all of Black Creek.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John a daughter, Sharon a grandson, Arnold II three sisters and three brothers-in-law: Polly (Gene) Weyenberg, Isabel (Cyril) Fries, and Dorothy (Bill) Martzahl also, two brothers and three sisters-in-law: Leo (Ethel, and Vi) Stephani, and Ray (Mary) Stephani.
Friends may call at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Black Creek on Saturday, March 1, 2003 after 9 a.m. until the time of service. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. at the church with Father Paul Paider officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery. The Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour is assisting the family.
The family wishes to thank the staff on 4 North at the Appleton Medical Center, and also a special thank you to all the caregivers from the County Health Program and the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
