    • Dexter, Marcella "Marcie" (Schiltz)
Marcella "Marcie" Dexter, age 90, Appleton, born on December 28, 1918, passed away at home with a smile on her face on February 1, 2009. God granted her an extension to allow the endless parade of family and friends one last visit, although He had to draw the line at her request to "Just finish one more project."
Everyone knew Mom was always involved in something. She was president of several organizations throughout her life including: Appleton Fire Fighters Aux, Catholic Daughters and Christian Mothers. Her volunteer activities are too numerous to list, but they will all miss the especially beautiful hand-made decorations for every occasion. She also sang in the choir and served meals well into her 80s.
Marcie was a card player and until December was still hosting and playing in one of her three clubs. Her grandchildren of all ages loved trying to beat her at cribbage, Polish Rummy or Skipbo. Her other hobby was beautiful embroidery, knitting and crocheting.
I recently found a quote mother lived by: "I don't regret being kind - I do regret not being kind enough."
Marcie is survived by two sons: Donald Jr. (Sandy) and Robert (MaryLou); two daughters: Carol (Jerry) Kraft and Julie Dexter; 13 grandchildren: Page, Justin and Casey Dexter; Kelly (Ken) Durham, Nancy (Joe) Vlachina, Susan (Scott) Kraft and Andy Kraft; Paige (Dan) Schultz and Kristen (Scott) Vosters, Wendy and Teresa McLaughlin, Pauline Crane, and Jack Dexter Marshall; seven great-grandchildren ; and two special friends: Bernie Fisher and Karen Much.
Marcie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Dexter Sr.; daughter, Nancy K. Haase; granddaughter, Sarah Dexter; parents: Theresa and Andrew Schiltz Sr.; brother, Andrew Schiltz Jr.; and sister, Evelyn Wohlt. The funeral liturgy will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence St., Appleton, with Fr. Larry Abler officiating. Friends will be received at the Wichmann Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 4, 2009, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Thank you Susan for your exceptional care and time you gave to Grandma.

"Mom, I learned so much from you all my life and even though we sometimes made each other crazy, I'm so glad we had this past year together. You always said you didn't have time to sit around and wait to die, but I guess the time finally came. Take care of Daisy. Love you Mom."
