- Marilyn J. DeBruin (Mrs. Tony DeBruin) 613 George Street Kaukauna Age 72, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2000 at the Appleton Medical Center. Marilyn was born in Menasha on August 15, 1928, daughter of the late George and Anna (Legro) Chadek.
On September 3, 1949, she married Tony DeBruin at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Menasha, he survives. Prior to her marriage, Marilyn worked at the Kimberly Clark Corporation for a few years, and later worked for several years as a bookkeeper at the F & M Bank in Kaukauna. She was also employed in the same capacity and retired from the Pioneer Press. Marilyn was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Cubs, and the Duke University basketball team. She greatly enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren each and every chance she got. She is survived by by her husband of fifty-one years, Tony DeBruin, Kaukauna a son, Peter (Doris) DeBruin, Kaukauna two daughters: Peggy (Steve) Schuh, Kaukauna Pam (Tom) Vils, Kaukauna eight grandchildren: Sara, Benjamin, and Rachel DeBruin, Becky King and Bryan Schuh Andy. Tim, and Jeremy Vils a brother, Duane (Jane) Chadek, Tucker, Georgia a sister, Ellen (Bob) Jacobson, Menasha a sister -in-law, Margaret DeBruin, Appleton. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Delores DeGoey, and a brother-in-law Herb DeBruin. The funeral liturgy for Marilyn will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2000 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desoyner Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating.
Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 8:30 am until the hour of the service. Marilyn was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be sadly missed by her dear family and by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the many caregivers who made Marilyn's last days more comfortable. They include countless staff members at Appleton Medical Center, in the departments of Intensive Care, Surgery, Respiratory Therapy, the nurses on 4 South, and Fox Valley Surgical Associates, especially Dr. Winek.
