    • Luella Bishop, 84, of Sherwood, passed away Saturday night, Oct. 21, 1989, at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
      She was born Feb. 4, 1905, in the town of Chilton, daughter of August Block and Helena (Bergelin) Block. She graduated from Hilbert High School in 1923 and from Outagamie Rural Normal School in 1924, and taught school in Calumet County. On June 2, 1926, she married Riley W. Bishop.
      She participated in much community work being a 4-H leader for the Sherwood Wide Awake 4-H Club for 25 years and also helped select the first IFYE exchange from Calumet County. She helped organize the 4-H Leaders Council of Calumet County, and was chair lady for the Harrison Farm Bureau for three years. She was school clerk for Bryan School in the town of Woodville for nine years. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Kaukauna; and was a charter member of the Ladies Aide since 1942, holding offices including president. She was also a choir member.
      She is survived by three daughters, June Everett and Bonnie Lou Bishop Babcock, both of Sherwood; Beverly and Art Boesch, Hilbert; a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Alice, rural Hilbert; a former daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Arlene Bishop, Hilbert, and Leon Babcock, Oshkosh; a sister, Verna Block, Menasha; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gladys and Anthony Schwabenlander, Appleton; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
      She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years; three sisters, Viola Koffarnus, Adela Ehrlich, and Olita Reed; and a sister-in-law, Doris Lundquist.
      Funeral services were at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kaukauna. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
