- Bernard (Ben) J. Burkart, 78, of 2912 S. 10th Street, Manitowoc, died Monday evening, October 29, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 9:45 a.m. Friday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10:15 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James J. Stamborski with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Burkart was born November 2, 1905, at New Franken Wisconsin, son of the late Mathew and Elizabeth Ripp Burkart. He married the former Regina M. Christoff on July 17, 1927, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1977. Mr. Burkart was employed for 41 years at Mirro Rolling Mill and retired in 1968 as a production supervisor. Mr. Burkart was a member of Senior Citizens of Manitowoc.
Survivors include his wife, Regina; two sons and daughters-in-law, Francis and June Burkart and Lawrence and Mary Lou Burkart, both of Manitowoc; a daughter and a son-in-law, Mary Lou and Lawrence Cherney of Denmark, Wisconsin; two brothers, Conrad Burkart of Green Bay and Wendell Burkart of DePere; a sister, Mrs. Jerry (Rosina) Raymond of Livonia, Michigan; nine grandchildren, David, Allen, Deborah, Anthony, Thomas, Michael and Daniel Burkart and Charles and Heidi Cherney; three great grandchildren, Matthew, Katie and Jacob. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Burkart.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday afternoon, where a prayer service will be held Thursday evening at 8:30 p.m.
