  • Notes
    • Evan L. "Bud" Wichman, age 80 of Neenah, has left the building. He was born August 18, 1934 to the late Henry and LaNiece (Evans) Wichman in Appleton, and married Beverly Bodway, whom he loved dearly. He felt overly blessed to have spent 58 years of his life with her by his side and always considered her "above him."

Bud was a Veteran Marine, having served his country proudly. He also prided himself in his work at Bergstrom/PH Gladfelter Paper before retiring in 1993. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and maintaining his yard and also loved spending time at his cabin in Mountain on Pocquet Ln with his family.

Bud left the building not singing any praises, although he liked to think he helped a lot of people throughout his life both personally and professionally. He loved people. He did recognize that he argued with many of those people, and begged forgiveness of those he may have hurt. It was never his intention to hurt anyone.

He tried to bring humor into life and quipped: "I am what I am."

Bud is survived by his wife, Bev; seven children: Kathy (Dave) DeWilde; Scott Wichman; Cindy (Judd) Meyers; TerriBeth (Kevin) Wood; David (Lana) Wichman; Nancy (Bob) Hans, Surprise, AZ; and Daniel (Michelle) Wichman; Grandchildren: Brad; Ryan (special friend Melissa); Matthew & Michael (Kyler) DeWilde; Jason Wichman; Nicole (Chad) Hamilton; Judson Meyers; Carl (Jessie) Meyers; Carli & Wilson Wood; Captain Thomas Wichman; Heather (special friend Mike Voss) Wichman; Vadim Zhenar, CA; Cassandra (special friend Bob Garvey) Krueger; Evans Hans; Zach & Dillon Wichman; Josh & Tyler Jensen; seven Great-grandchildren: Taylor, Callie & Harper; Dylan, Adam & "The Little Charmer" James; and Lennon.

He is further survived by his brothers and sister, and sisters- and brothers-in-law: Don Wichman; Mike (Judy) Wichman; Henry "Skip" (Jean) Wichman; Mary (Joe) Nemecheck; Pat (Jim) Van Oss; Barbara Abendroth; Mary Sedo; Gerald (Naomi) Bodway; many other relatives and wonderful friends.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents; mother- and father-in-law; Eva & Gus Bodway; an infant daughter MaryAnn; grandmother, Elizabeth Evans, and a brother/wife Eugene & Sue Wichman; and sister-in-law, and Barbara Wichman.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, November 1, 2014, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah, Fr. Larry Seidl officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service. Military Honors will follow.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
