Romenesko, Rosemary Mrs. Kenneth
Rosemary, age 82, of Appleton, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Brewster Village. She was born September 12, 1927, in Appleton, daughter of the late Jacob and Mary (Brooks) DeJong. She was a graduate of Freedom High School. Following graduation from Kaukauna Normal, she taught at Woodside Elementary School. She married Kenneth Romenesko June 8, 1948, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, sharing 61 years together.
Rosemary was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and the St. Bernard Ladies Rosary Club. She volunteered at St. Therese and St. Piux X Catholic Schools; was President of St. Therese Ladies Society and did volunteer work at the church; she was a former member of the Fox Valley Golf Club and Butte Des Morts Country Club where she achieved a "hole in one" on the 5th hole. She was an avid Bridge player; a good seamstress; and enjoyed winters in Arizona where she met many friends. She always appreciated the many friends she made while living at Touchmark.
Rosemary is survived by her husband, Ken; a daughter and son-in-law: Sue and Jim Knapstein, Appleton; a son and daughter-in-law: Terry and Connie Romenesko, Neenah; two sisters: Betty Hietpas, Kaukauna; Ardene Welhouse, Kaukauna; a brother and sister-in-law: Frank and Joyce DeJong, Pound; five grandchildren: Kari (Landon) Schultz; Kelly (Steve) Sathre; Rebecca Bresser; Tyler Romenesko and Brady Romenesko; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert, and a brother, Corneal.
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St., with Rev. Justin Werner officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for COTS and the Emergency Shelter of the Fox Valley.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Meena Thiranavu and the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital and the staff at Brewster Village for their compassion and care during Rosemary's stay.
