Martin Vandenberg Dies At 77; Rites Held On Saturday
Funeral services for Martin W. Vandenberg, 77, former member of the Oneida School Board, were at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, with the Rev. Leander F. Nickel officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Vandenberg of 7229 Country Trunk S, Kaukauna (Freedom) died on Wednesday, November 7, 1984. He was born December 23, 1906, in the Town of Freedom, and was married to the former Magdalene (Lene) Geurts in May, 1925. They had lived and farmed in the Town of Oneida until his retirement in 1971, at which time they moved to the Village of Freedom. Mr. Vandenberg had served on the School Board at Oneida, and was a member of the Freedom Golden Agers.
Survivors, besides his wife, are two sons, Jack and Marvin, both of Freedom, three foster sons, Jack Jahnke of Oneida, Jerome Jahnke of Greenville, and Ted Stogbauer of Neenah; two brothers, William of Neenah, and Vincent of Freedom; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Geurts of Freedom; and 18 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dan, William, Dave, Terry and Mike Vandenberg, and Greg, Jeff and Mike Jahnke. The Greenwood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
