      Carl J. Van Gompel
      Little Chute

      Age 43, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 16, 2003 in Little Chute. Carl, the son of James and Catherine [Wildenberg] Van Gompel, was born in Appleton on January 16, 1960. Carl was a lifelong member of St. John Nepomucenc Catholic Church in Little Chute, where for over 20 years he regularly served as an usher at the 4:30 p.m. Mass. He was also a member of St. John Athletic Association. Carl was employed at Willie's Supper Club in Little Chute and was an avid sports fan, particularly enjoying the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers.

      Carl is survived by his mother, three sisters and three brothers, Marie [Paul] Alsbergas, Orangeville, Ontario, Canada; Joe [Toni] Van Gompel, Austin, Texas; Chris [Lori] Van Compel, Darboy; Barb [Dave] Ritchie, Darlington; Betty Van Gompel, Kenosha; Ken [Kathy] Van Gompel, Hilbert; 15 nieces and nephews; Goddaughter, Jeanne Marie Spaulding, Duluth, Minnesota; several aunts, uncles and cousins, and many friends.

      Carl was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Anton and Marie Van Gompel, and Joseph and Jeanette Wildenberg.

      The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2003 at St. John Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. until 10:30 a.m. A memorial fund has been established.
