    • Elvin J. "Swede" Swenson, age 94, of Green Bay, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2013. He was born on January 17, 1919, son of the late, Raymond and Emma (Johnson) Swenson. On December 2, 1942, Swede was united in marriage to Alice Daul. Together they had six beautiful children. On July 8, 1988, Alice lost her battle with cancer and then Swede was fortunate enough to find love again. On July 10, 1992, Swede was united in marriage to Lilamae McDaniel.

      Swede joined the US Army in March 1941, serving in the European Theater during WWII. Upon his return, he continued to serve in the Army Reserves rising to the rank of Lt. Col. for a total of 37 years of service, retiring in 1978. Swede worked as a local plumber with Thomas Plumbing for 25 years, then joined Phillips and Getchow to help build the Nuclear Plants in Kewaunee and Two Rivers. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 11 and the Green Bay Yachting Club, enjoying many hours on his boat "The Royal Flush".

      Swede is survived by his wife, Lilamae; four children, Cathy (Tom) Harrison, Tom (Sue) Swenson, Jim (Denise) Swenson and Jackie (Rick) Rezabek, Lil's children, Michael (Patty) McDaniel, Tim (Cheryl) McDaniel, Sean McDaniel and Linda Hewitt. He is further survived by 19 grandchildren, Anne (Mitch) Roepke, Missy Appleton, Brigid Kiefer, Paul (Kris) Harrison, Scott Harrison, Shane (Bernadette) Swenson, Chad (Jamie) Swenson, Jesse (Becky) Swenson, Tammy (John) Tuene, Heidi (Jeff) Gibbons, Ryan, Robert and Joshua Rezabek, Jonathan (Liz) Rezabek, Shana and Brady McDaniel, Mason McDaniel, Aaron and Tyler Hewitt as well as many great-grandchildren and other family and friends.

      Besides his parents and his first wife, Alice, Swede was preceded in death by a son John; a daughter, Betty; three grandchildren, Jeffrey and Joseph Harrison and Cari Swenson, two brothers and two sisters.

      Visitation for Swede will be held from 9:00 am on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, until the Veteran's service at 11:30 am conducted by the American Legion Sullivan-Wallen Post No. 11. Military honors will follow. Swede will be laid to rest at Fort Howard Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com.
