      Age 61, died at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 1987. He was born April 10, 1926, in Little Chute. Prior to his retirement he was a Tour Boss at Appleton Papers, Combined Locks Mill. He was a member of the Combined Locks Quarter Century Club, the OARC, the Management Club, and the American Legion Post No 258. He had served in the US Navy during World War II.

      Survivors include his wife, Pearl Lamers DeGroot; a daughter and son in-law, Teri and Michael Rooyakkers, Kimberly; three sons and a daughter in-law, Tom and Ted, both of Little Chute; Tim and Jenie, Kimberly; six brothers and sisters in-law, Joe and Shirley, Ericka; Roger and Mary, Green Bay; Vincent and Leann, Little Chute; Don and Lori, Little Chute; Gerald and Pauline, Little Chute; Tim and Cherri, Georgia; two sisters and brothers in-law, Margaret and James Rossmeissl, Appleton; Doris and Robert Barron, De Pere; his mother in-law, Minnie Lamers, Kaukauna; four grandchildren, Sadie, Ben, and Beth Rooyakkers; and Kayla Marie DeGroot.

      He was preceded in death by his parent, Mr. and Mrs. Henry DeGroot; and a sister Bernice. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, from St. John Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Freinds may call at the Verkulien Funeral home, from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. on Saturday until the time of the service. There will be an American Legion visitation at 7 p.m. Friday and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Military rites will be held immediately following the funeral mass.
