    • John P. Neugent, 90, a lifetime resident of Allouez, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Rennes Health Center. He was born February 11, 1924 in Green Bay to John T. and Sophia (Cross) Neugent. John attended St. Norbert High School and graduated in 1942 with the first graduating class of Central Catholic High School where he was captain of the football team. In 1950 he married Mary Margaret Vissers at St. Mary's Catholic Church in De Pere, WI.

      John was employed by Wisconsin Telephone Company and retired in 1988. John enjoyed building televisions and stereos from kits, his cottage on Explosion Lake and winters in Apache Junction, AZ. He was a drummer for local bands including the Penguins, a Ham Radio Operator (W9ZIX and later N9GIU), a member of the Telephone Pioneers Volunteer Group and Concerned Hearts and the Stroke Survivors. He was a former member of the Mike and Key Club, the Door County Ham Radio Club and Circus Fans of America.

      John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Margaret; four children, Marilyn (Pat) Batey, De Pere; Patrick Neugent, Fayetteville, AR; Mike (Cindy) Neugent, De Pere; Marge Neugent, Green Bay; three granddaughters, Lizzie Batey (Will) Yoder, Oak Creek, WI, Jenny (fiancé Erik Miller) Neugent, Verona, WI, and Becky Neugent, De Pere; one great granddaughter, Saoirse Yoder and another Yoder grandchild due in January. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law; Betty Higgins, De Pere, Kathleen (Richard) Jobelius, Lucille (Len) Walczyk, Allouez and one brother-in-law, Jerome (Marion) Vissers, De Pere and numerous nieces and nephews.

      He was proceeded in death by his parents; his sisters, Mary Catherine Neugent and Alice Neugent and two brothers-in-law, Thomas Higgins and James Vissers.

      Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere, from 5:00-7:00pm on FRIDAY, JULY 11, with a parish prayer service at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue on SATURDAY at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 130 St. Matthew St, Allouez, FROM 9:30-10:15AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated AT 10:30AM with the Rev. Philip Dinh-Van-Thiep officiating. Interment in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, De Pere. Online condolences at www.cotterfuneralhome.com
