Micke, Gladys H.
Gladys H. Micke, 91, Wrightstown, passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at Appleton Medical Center, with her loving family at her side. She was born July 7, 1917, in Kaukauna, daughter to the late Henry and Gertrude (Beckx) DeGroot. She married Francis Micke, Sept. 14, 1940, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 2000. Gladys was a longtime member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Wrightstown, where she was active in the Martha Choir, Golden Agers and the St. Paul's Christian Mothers. Gladys enjoyed time with her family, cards, baking, gardening, shopping and socializing with her many friends.
Survivors include one son, Ron (fiance, LeeAnn Nelson) Micke, Thief River Falls, Minn.; four daughters, Dort (Bob) Van Den Bosch, Freedom; Judy (Dick) Marx, Freedom; Sandie (Leroy) Koch, Brillion; and Debbie (Tom) Miller, Green Bay; 21 grandchildren, Colleen (Mark) Hansen, Craig (Bonnie) Micke, Christa (Jim) Zuleger, Darrel (Tammy) Haen, Dawn (Brian) VanBoxtel, Kim (Jim) Jones, Doug (Marsha) Van Den Bosch, Nicole Van Den Bosch, Natalie (Tom) Heinan, Deanna (Craig) Verkuilen, Denise (Scott) Meshnick, Danette Marx, Dan (special friend, Alicia Murphy) Marx, Eric (special friend, Monica) Burt, Ashley (John) Vande Burgt, Tracy (Andy) Hengst, Tony (Samantha) Koch, Travis (special friend, Becky Gehrke) Vande Hey, Terra (special friend, Andy Braatz) Vande Hey, Kristin (Paul) Nesbitt, Kerry Jo (Mark) Hanson; 22 great-grandchildren; special nephew, Bill (Natala) Vanstralen; sisters-in-law, Lorraine DeGroot and Alice DeGroot; numerous nieces and nephews. She is further survived by her husband, Francis', family, Rosella VanderHeiden, Leo Micke (fiancee, Cordell); sisters-in-law, Rose Micke and Julie Micke; and other family.
In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Leona (Ernie Buetow) and Helen (Pete Melchior); three brothers and two sisters-in-law, John (Hilda) DeGroot, Bill and Harold (Maymie De Groot); Dad's family, Tony, Norbert, Gilbert, Raymond and Edward; sisters-in-law, Anna, Helen, Ceil, Josephine Micke, Veronica Jacobs; two brothers-in-law, Ray Jacobs and Clayton Vanderheiden.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. at DeWane-Cotter Funeral Home, 711 Main St., Wrightstown, where there will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Wrightstown. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at church, with Msgr. John H. Schuh officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
