    • Hillard F. Jacobs, age 75, of Chilton, died on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born August 26, 1937 in Hilbert, son of the late Raymond & Veronica (Micke) Jacobs. Hillard married Beverly Short on November 14, 1959 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Appleton. During a majority of his life, Hillard farmed on his family's homestead in the Hilbert area; he never truly retired and had been currently working at Farm & Home in Chilton where he was frequently assisting patrons in need of hardware advice. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hilbert, the Knights of Columbus, was a former member of the Hilbert Lions Club, and had served a time in the Army Reserves. Hillard enjoyed time he could spend woodworking creating lawn ornaments or birdhouses, which adorn his and all of his children's yards. He will be remembered for his insatiable sweet tooth, his love of the Green Bay Packers, and his enjoyment of the great outdoors. Those that knew Hillard knew that he was someone who they could rely on when something was needed; he was always available to others and helped in any way that he could. Above all else, he treasured his family and looked on with pride and a sense of awe when he was in their presence. Nothing brought him more joy than to play with and cherish each of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife: Beverly; children: Dawn (Anthony) Dohr of Elkhart Lake, Jeff (Sindia) Jacobs of Tomah, Doug (Kay) Jacobs of Chilton, Shelly (Wayne) Maertz of Reedsville, Eugene (Jennifer) Jacobs of Chilton; grandchildren: Bradley (Rachel) Dohr, Kelly Dohr and her special friend, Jacob Wine, Siranda Jacobs, Rancelar Jacobs, Justin Jacobs, Mandy Jacobs, Andrew (Stephanie) Maertz, Timothy (Marissa) Maertz, Tori Jacobs, Lauren Jacobs, & Marcus Jacobs; 4 great-grandchildren: Cyris & Lillian Strauch, Aiden Dohr & Theodore Jacobs; his siblings: Roger (Darlin) Jacobs, Virginia (Richard) Levash, Joseph (Celia) Jacobs, Rosemary (Ralph) Karls, Anna Marie (Pete) Luxem, Kenneth (Debbie) Jacobs; a brother-in-law: Dennis (Donna) Short; and a sister-in-law: Donna (Earl) Euclide. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Hillard was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Robert (Carol) Jacobs; an infant sister: Dorothy Jacobs; and a brother-in-law: Clayton Short. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert with the Rev. Michael Betley officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, August 9, 2013 and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 am until 10:30 am.
