    • Meta M. VanDoren, 97, Wausau, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.

      She was born January 9, 1917 in Mosinee, daughter of the late Thomas and Marie (Hack) O'Connor. On August 22, 1937 she married Dean "Kim" VanDoren. He preceded her in death.

      For many years Meta volunteered as a candy striper for the hospital. She enjoyed golfing, bird watching, fishing and time at her cottage up North. Everywhere Meta went she was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

      Survivors include her son, Connor VanDoren, White Lake; grandchildren, Todd (Julie) VanDoren, Vista, Calif., Ann (Jody) Seubert, Appleton and Dean (special friend Teresa) VanDoren, Rhinelander; great-grandchildren, Ariana, Jaden, Aubrey, Elizabeth and Carson; sister, Marion O'Connor; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

      Besides her parents and husband, Dean, she was preceded in death by three brothers.

      Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
