- Elizabeth Mary Mantei "Betty" Robl, age 84, of Oshkosh, passed away on Thursday afternoon, October 8, 2009 in the Bethel Home. On March 30, 1925 she was born in Appleton, the daughter of Edwin A. and Regina A. (Junk) Mantei. Betty was a graduate of Kaukauna High School and the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital and the Director of Nursing at the Mercy Extended Care. She retired from Park View Health Center. A member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church (Sacred Heart site), she was also a member of the United States Cadet Nurses Program. Betty enjoyed flower gardening, reading and playing Bingo. On August 6, 1949 she married Robert A. Robl in Kaukauna. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2002.
Her memory will be cherished by her children: Ted (Sally) Robl of Markesan, Mary (Alton) Stalvey of Hope Sound, FL and Mark (Teri) Robl of Homer, Alaska; her grandchildren: Susan Robl (Kevin) Malone of Rock Hill, S.C., Joan Robl (Charles) Moore of Markesan, Robert Robl of Anchorage, Alaska, David Robl of Homer, Alaska, Molly O'Donnell (Randy) Clark of Marion, IA and Einar (Carrie) Kvandahl of Ripon; her great-grandchildren: Kaya, Corin and Karsyn Moore all of Markesan; Ethan, Emma and Collin Kvandahl all of Ripon; her brother: Edwin L. (Barbara) Mantei and her sister: Lucille E. Mantei (Robert) Spanbauer; her brother-in-law: Ken (Mary) Robl and three sisters-in-law: Marie Esslinger, Ruth Robl and Arlene Robl and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents: John and Mary Junk, Mr. & Mrs. Emil Hoeft; her son-in-law: Patrick J. O'Donnell; her in-laws: Elmer Mittag and Viola Robl (Wenzel Robl) Mittag, Harold and Eugene Robl, Isabelle Robl and Ralph Esslinger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2009 in the St. Jude the Apsotle Catholic Church (Sacred Heart Site) at the corner of 6th Ave., and Knapp Street, with Rev, Fr, William Van De Kreeke as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Tuesday in the church.
