    • Tony Slater, age 56, passed away suddenly on Sunday evening, October 6, 2013, with his family at his side. Tony was born in Appleton on May 17, 1957, son of the late James Slater and Evelyn (Brasch) Slater who resides in Appleton. Following graduation from the Little Chute High School, he worked at Heid Music, Racing Electronics, and Zwicker Knitting Mill. After Zwicker's closed, he enrolled at Fox Valley Technical College and received a degree as an Electro-Mechanical Technician. Following his training, he worked for Bemis in the Perfect Seal division, as well as Presto Products in Weyauwega. On April 27, 1984, Tony married Jane Jones at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Appleton. Tony loved hunting, fishing, camping, was a former assistant pack leader for Cub Scout Troop #3012 at Franklin School in Appleton, and volunteered as a SHARE coordinator. He also loved driving, visiting Branson, Missouri, computer games – especially Mafia Wars, and spending time with his family, especially his beloved granddaughter Caylah.

      Survivors include his wife: Jane Slater of Appleton; his mother: Evelyn Slater of Appleton; two children: Christopher Slater of Appleton and Katherine (Curtis) Jones of Princeton, Kentucky and their daughter Caylah; a brother: Doug (Paula) Slater of Little Chute; a sister: Barb (Wayne) Schmitt of Appleton; Jane's father: John Jones of Wild Rose; and Jane's siblings: Julie (Al) Friedl of Wild Rose; Jill Inda of Athens and her special friend Brian Heldt; JoAnn (John) Holden of Pine River; and Jay (Missy) Jones of Poy Sippi. Tony also leaves behind his life-long good friend, Frank Boer of Little Chute, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father James Slater; mother-in-law June Jones; and grandparents Clarence (Millie nee Sears) Slater and Fred (Lena nee DeBruin) Brasch, and a nephew Matthew Prasch.

      Family and friends will gather to celebrate Tony's life with a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at MEMORIAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 803 E. College Avenue in Appleton, with Rev. Michael Goodwin officiating. The family will receive visitors directly at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service.
