      Joseph P. Mayer 69 of 118 Oak St. Chilton died at 2:45pm Sunday at Calumet Memorial Hospital in Chilton. He had been in ill health the past year and hospitalized one week. Born in Charlesburg August 7, 1894, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Mayer, and attended St. Charles Parochial School. He farmed and was in the dairy business for 37 years. From 1947 until his illness he was employed at the Chilton Cooperative Oil Service.
      On November 28, 1918 he married Marie Gebhart at St. Charles Catholic Church at Charlesburg. She died July 18, 1956. He married Mrs. Olive Anhalt Kersten on February 15, 1958 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Chilton. She survives, along with two daughters, Mrs. John (Rosemary) Yule Minneapolis, Mrs. George W (Armella) Dodson of Vienna, Va; two sons Joseph Jr. of Green Bay, Paul J of Milwaukee; a step-daughter Mrs. Clayton Miller of Chilton and 15 grandchildren.
