- Van Gompel, June (Verhagen) 1986 Appleton Post Crescent dated 12/26/1986; Mrs. Marcellus Van Gompel, (June Verhagen) , 338 Cherry Lane Little Chute; Age 51 passed away at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday, December 24, 1986. She was a life long resident of Little Chute. She was born, June 1, 1935, in Little Chute. She graduated from St. John High School, Little Chute, in 1953. Mrs. VanGompel was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, a former member and President of the St. John School Board, also former member of the adult choir. She was a member of the Worship Committee, a Vice-President and President-of the Home School Association. She was a Religious Education Teacher, a Den Mother Pack 51, a Vice President of the PTA Little Chute Elementary School, a member of the Diocesan Ministry for the engaged, and was active in the Diocese of Green Bay Cursillo program. Survivors include her husband, Marcellus (mumps); her mother, Del Verhagen, Llttle Chute; three sons: Russell VanGompel and his wife, Mary Jo, and their son, Marc, Roseville.Minnesota; Gregory VanGompel and his wife, Sheila, Crystal, Minnesota; Tim VanGompel, Little Chute; three brothers: James Verhagen, and his wife, Myra, Darboy; Eugene Verhagen, and his wife, Sandy, Kaukauna; Douglas Verhagen, Little Chute; a sister, Grace Fiestedt, and her husband, Carl, Greenville; a sister-in-law, Fran Verhagen, Little Chute. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Verhagen, a brother, Walter Verhagen Jr. both of Little Chute. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, from St. John Catholic Church, with the Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Friends may call at St. John Catholic Church, from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Friday (today) and from 12 noon Saturday until the time of service. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. The Verkuilen Funeral Home is assisting the family.
